GS AIGETOA writes to Director HR regarding renewal of renewal of Group Term Insurance (GTI) policy for BSNL Executives.
AIGETOA requested to expedite process of negotiation with LIC for executive’s Group Term Insurance Policy for all BSNL executives and payment of the premium from BSNL resources, as a part of social security of the employees.

There will not be any auto renewal of the scheme.
All existing members, as well as new entrants will have to compulsorily exercise their option to avail the GTI scheme through ERP/ESS Portal during the online window.
In case the employee, including existing member, does not exercise any option, he/she will be considered to have not opted for the GTI scheme.
The online window for existing members, new entrants, and withdrawal option for existing members, will be open from 18.02.2022 to 22.02.2022.
Only the new entrants will be allowed to withdraw their option, if they so desire, during separate online window form 23.02.2022 to 24.02.2022.
With the continuous persuasion of AIGETOA at LIC Delhi office and concerned section of BSNL, finally LIC has transferred Rupees 8 Cr in the centralized account of BSNL against 16 cases of GTI for the casualties happened during the Covid period. This was an agenda item of the AIGETOA with management in its formal meeting and our team was continuously pursuing the issues with BSNL as well as LIC.
AIGETOA Vice President and Asst General Secretary met Sr. GM Establishment in this regard and confirmed the same. Further, they have requested him to expedite the the settlement of all other pending claims at the earliest. Now BSNL HQ will transfer the same amount (Rs 50 lakh each) to the nominee’s accounts of the respective deceased employees.
This process could be started after a series of meetings and a series of if and buts in recent past between BSNL and LIC. Now finally the process has started smoothly. We assure that all pending cases will be settled soon by LIC through this centralized BSNL account.
AIGETOA CHQ Team met Sr GM establishment with regard to the clearance of payment of GTI cases. This was under constant persuasion by association as there was some technical obstacles with respect to the disbursement of the amount. Now the discussions have been concluded and the obstacle has been cleared .It is decided that LIC will pay the consolidated amount to BSNL and BSNL CO will transfer the amount directly to nominee of the concerned executive. A separate account will be opened by BSNL for the purpose. All the pending payments on account of GTI shall be cleared thereafter.
We extend our warmth thanks to the Hon’ble CMD, Dir(HR), Dir(Fin), Sr. GM(Est), Sr. GM(CA), Sr. GM(EF) and officers of the section to ensure payment of the premium amount of GTI to the LIC on due date of 01.03.2021 to extend the coverage for the period of 01.03.2021 to 28.02.2022 to all the employees (Executives + Non-executives), who opted for the service and whose premium amount deducted from their pay bill of Feb-2021.
Team AIGETOA especially under the patronage of Shri Badri Kumar Mehta VP and Shri Nitin Dhahiya, AFS took all efforts and persuasions with various officers to complete the formalities of GTI for Executives as well as Non-executives and ensured payment of the premium of GTI on due date of 01.03.2021. It was important to ensure payment on due date to avoid any legal complexity in case of any unfortunate event.
BSNL CO issued the list of online options received on ERP/ESS portal for annual renewal w.e.f 01.03.2021 for Group Term Insurance for BSNL Executives and Non-executives.
BSNL has achieved a very economical, secure and assured term plan agreement for all its employees in terms of GTI with India’s most trusted brand LIC. Earlier GTI was only for Executives but this year the GTI facility has been extended to all non executives also.
Due to various stresses at work places and home/family and due to various accidental circumstances in daily life many of our employees (either executives or non executives) have lost their life in recent past. One can see how difficult is to run the family after the demise of only earning member of the family.All dreams of children’s better future spoiled once such causality happen in once family.
Associations and Unions with the help of BSNL management have come forward for providing the security to our employee families after their sad demise in terms of providing best ever insurance plan to all employees of BSNL.

We Request all employees to opt for this GTI scheme for the best security of our family.
We also request all our office bearers to arrange to talk to each and every employee in their office/section/building etc. specially the non executives to explain them the benefit and necessity of this GTI for them.

(Premium amount will be deducted from salary of February 2021 month and will be deposited to LIC immediately to start the policy from 01, March, 2021)
BSNL CO issued direction to call for the option for renewal of GTI:
BSNL Corporate Office, New Delhi issued direction to call for the option for renewal of GTI from BSNL Executives. For a sum assured of Rs 50 Lakh, the renewal EMI will be Rs 9440/- for those executives who born on and after 15.09.1970 and the renewal EMI will be Rs 45430/- for those executives who born before 15.09.1970. The annual premium will be deducted from the salary of the month of the February-2020. Although association has always advocated that the GTI amount should be paid by employer but till it is not achieved, association appeals all executives to go through the details minutely and take a conscious decision.
