AIGETOA CHQ Members present in Delhi met Director (HR) today and demanded that responsibility be fixed for the delay in the consideration/decision of executives’ representations.
We apprised him that an executive suffered an untimely demise due to a massive cardiac arrest last week. We apprised that non-consideration of his case, despite him being eligible for transfer immunity as the caregiver of a more than 70% differently abled child and despite the relevant entry being available in ERP, cannot be ruled out as one of the significant factors in aggravating the prolonged stress.
We categorically stated that we are not concerned about who is issuing directions. We are concerned about the officer responsible on paper for violating the approved Transfer Policy and issuing orders based on individual discretion rather than the policy-driven SOPs. We are also not concerned about who is running the show. Our concern is about who was responsible for taking the decision and who has delayed the decision.
Although a Dashboard Review Meeting was in progress, we struck on our demand to meet him immediately and ensured that our team was heard. Director (HR) assured us that necessary action would be taken. We demanded not only the immediate disposal of the pending grievances but also for fixing of the responsibility and the initiation of appropriate disciplinary/penal action against those found responsible.
We conveyed that if the management still fails to wake up to the gravity of the situation, the day is not far when employees across BSNL will be compelled to come onto the streets in pursuit of their genuine grievances.
As CMD BSNL was not available in the office, we shall be meeting him in the evening to convey the same concern and resentment.
Team AIGETOA has also apprised the teams of the Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications (MoSC) and the Hon’ble Minister of Communications (MoC) about this incident and the circumstances associated with it. We are also trying to meet them in person before the next HR Review Meeting on AIGETOA’s submissions, which is scheduled to be held later this week.
