GS AIGETOA writes to CMD BSNL highlighting the pressing need to reform and strengthen the social security framework for BSNL recruited employees.
The unfortunate and untimely demise of Shri Atul Singhal, SDE, Bharuch (Gujarat), who succumbed to cancer after 23 years of committed service on 17th June 2025, has once again laid bare the severe shortcomings in BSNL’s HR policies. The meager monthly pension available under EPF and SAB, coupled with the lack of appropriate healthcare coverage and absence of death relief mechanisms, leaves families of deceased employees in deep distress.
AIGETOA have been continuously demanding the following essential measures:
- Implementation of 30% Superannuation Benefits (SAB).
- Creation of a DRF for immediate family support.
- Provision of BSNL-funded GHI & GTI.
- Compassionate ground appointments for eligible dependents.
This incident is not an isolated case but a reflection of systemic apathy. It is high time the management recognizes the depth of the crisis and takes urgent corrective actions.
