Pulsating Points of Discussion on AIGETOA Proposed Career Growth of Executives

Management : Proposed Career Progression of AIGETOA seems good but we can not implement because other Executive Associations are not agreeing.

AIGETOA : It can not be true that other associations are not agreeing. We don’t find any harm to their members in our proposal moreover they have already appreciated much before. "We were very happy to know from CMD that he does not find any need of having two channels of promotion for executives. Instead, he was of the opinion that promotions up to STS should take place on time bound basis, with change of designations as is prevailing in CPSUs. Promotions to JAG after reaching STS should be linked to availability of posts. There should be no parallel post based promotion up to STS, CMD was of the opinion. We informed CMD that basically this is our demand for which we have struggled a lot, but, unfortunately this basic demand of ours was never agreed to by the BSNL Management."

CMD mentioned that he would discuss the issue with the concerned officers on the above lines.

Management : If we start promoting executives in time bound manner who will work as JTO?

AIGETOA : It is a naked truth that there exits no boundaries between JTO/SDE/Sr SDE in respect of work except some financial and administrative powers. Moreover, there is no pyramid structure in field between these executives as at many place ratio of SDE:JTO is 3:1 to 6:1 means for every 3 to 6 SDE there is one JTO. It was really disappointing to see such kind of thinking from the top authority of BSNL. The meaning of promotion is itself to motivate the executives to work for the company but here Executives can not be promoted to extract the work. We have also suggested that newly recruited TTA who are mostly having the engineers degrees can be promoted to JTO in similar fashion. Earlier, eligibility for TTA to become JTO was 5 years but now it is 10 years despite their performance and qualification. It is high injustice with them. There may be the minimum qualification of diploma for TTA but once Engineers have joined BSNL, Management should have appreciated them by giving better career growth instead demotivating by putting them as TTA at least for 10 years.

Management, Through BCG : BSNL has unique and good policy as paying more and responsibility less.

AIGETOA : It may be good for those who’s retirement is very near but we have to serve for almost next 30 years to this company. We don't think  company can survive long time by adopting such policy. It was really heart beating to know such kind of thinking of BCG who has been hired by paying crores of rupees to promote the business of the company.
