A possible ad from BSNL - If BSNL was to Recruit Doctors!

 

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) will recruit about 3945 Junior Medical Officers (JMOs) through a competitive examination to be held on 21st June 2009 (Sunday) on All India basis.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. [BSNL] will recruit about 3945  [subject to variation depending on the availability of vacancies] Junior Medical Officers through an open competitive examination to be held on 21.06.2009   on All India basis, as per the details given below.

Scale of Pay:

The post of JMO. is in the IDA pay scale of Rs. 9850-250-14600. (The pay scale is likely to be revised upwards). (Initially the scale was E2, currently it is E1A, and after the 2nd pay revision it will be E1)

Eligibility:

Nationality : Only Indian Nationals would be eligible to apply.

 

Educational Qualifications: JMO

 

Applicant must possess as on 31.12.2009, MBBS or equivalent degree from a recognized medical college/university:

Candidates appearing in the  final year degree examination may also apply provided they possess the required educational qualification by 31.12.2009.

 

Age:

The applicant for JMOs(Telecom), JMOs(Civil) and JMOs(Electrical) should not be more than 30 years of  age  on the closing date for   receipt of  applications from candidates

Mode of selection and nature of Question Paper

The mode of selection is through an All India Competitive Examination. The examination will be of three hours duration with one Question Paper containing the following three sections:-

For JMOs(Telecom)

 

Section-I :     Medical stream  :    50 questions
Section-II :    Medical stream  :    50 questions
Section-III :   
General Ability Test  :  20 questions

 

The Question Paper will be fully objective type with multiple options as answers to each question.  The standard of paper in Medical subjects will be that of Medical Examination of an Indian University.

However, there would be no separate time fixed for attempting the separate sections. Detailed syllabus for JMOs(Telecom), JMOs(Civil) and JMOs(Electrical) appear at Annexures ‘B’ , ‘C’ and ‘D’ respectively.

A final call letter/appointment letter will be issued to the candidate after completion of all other formalities.

Note: All newly recruited JMOs will be enblock junior to all nurses, ANMs, DNMs, ward boys and all those who absorbed in BSNL and would be JMOs in near future irrespective of their posting in JMO grade.

 

Career opportunities in BSNL:

 

The candidates, once selected through the examination, will be posted as JMO.

All JMOs will have to report to the Sub Divisional Nurse (SDN), who in turn will report to the Divisional Nurse (DN). DN will be under the control of DGM, who is basically an MBBS doctor, but working in BSNL for the last few years. DGMs and GMs are Govt. employees working on deputation basis, and are supposed to be here until BSNL is no more. DGMs and GMs, even though they are called “Managers”, they do not possess a management degree. Of course, it is not a must.  There are DGMs and GMs working in HR, Admin, Operations, Marketing, Business development and even in Finance.

 

Work will be allotted to JMOs by the SDNs and DNs. All SDNs and DNs will be given promotion in every 4 years, irrespective of their talent and work. JMOs will be given first promotion after 6 years of hard work.  (Promotion may come any year after the 6th year, but never before!) BSNL may conduct an exam and few will be given the posting of SDNs (Sub Divisional Nurse) in the few subsequent years.
