Circle Conference cum Annual General Body Meet of AIGETOA, Assam Chapter
The Circle Conference of AIGETOA, Assam Chapter started at 11.30 AM at Gauhati Town Club Auditorium in Panbazar, Guwahati, Assam. The Open Session was inaugurated by lighting of lamp by the Hon’ble guests Shri Nathuram Singh, Sr. GM (S & M), Shri T V Venkatram, Sr. GM (EB, HR & Admin), Shri M K Gogoi, GM (ETR), Shri Ravi Shil Verma, General Secretary & Shri Deepak K Sahoo, AGS and with the prayer “itini sakti hame dena...” by the house. All the Dignitaries were felicitated with the traditional assamese “Gamuchha & Japi”.
Circle Organizing Secretary Com. Shri Satyajyoti Nath welcomed all dignitaries, Senior Officers, Circle Secretaries of other associations, Circle/District office bearers & members.
Circle Secretary Com. Shri Prabhat Kumar Sahu expressed his gratitude to the hon’ble guests for their gracious presence in the event despite being held in a holiday. He also addressed the house upon the open session theme “Role of Employees & Management in driving BSNL back to t the path of accelerated growth” and requested the dignitaries to motivate the young officers by their valuable opinions & ideas.
Shri M K Gogoi, GM (ETR,Guwahati) in his address, mentioned about the present HR policies of BSNL and expressed favourable opinion for change in the PSU to bring it at par with other CPSUs like BHEL, IOCL etc.. He informed the house that due to latest Look-East policy of the Central Govt., lot of infrastructure development is happening in the north-east and BSNL is facing the brunt by being forced to spend lot of money for maintenance of cables and transmission lines which are cut every other day. But he expressed his full faith upon the young officers as they are the strength of the enterprise.
Com. Shri Deepak Kumar Sahoo, AGS AIGETOA in his speech expressed about the true role of association in revival of BSNL & appealed the members to put their efforts for improving of working culture in BSNL. He also emphasized that management should also play its role by bringing out certain reformations in employee policies so that the DR executives are motivated to generate more revenue for our beloved company.
Com. I H Mandal, CS SNEA (I) in his addressing focused about the importance of the government’s role in expansion of BSNL’s growth. Also in his speech he emphasized on need for reformation in the marketing strategy of BSNL.
Com. A Nath, CS AIBSNLEA motivated the young officers through various examples & influx of positive thoughts into the house. In his speech he also mentioned about the proper implementation of new services for improving of market share of BSNL in the various spheres of telecom business.
Shri T V Venkatram, Sr. GM (EB / HR & Admin) in his addressing mentioned that all the executives are the part of management, as they have to play a vital role of manager with in the organization. He emphasized about the importance of retention of present customer, as it ensures stability of revenue. In his opinion he said that every employee of the BSNL is the brand ambassador for the enterprise & should take responsibility for building of the image for the company and for the improvement of revenue.
Shri Ravi Shil Verma, General Secretary addressed the house about the potential of the employees & need of their positive commitments for the upliftment of BSNL. He mentioned about the impact of performing & nonperforming workforce towards the growth of the enterprise. In his speech he emphasized for bringing out reformation in BSNL HR policy by introduction of performance based promotion policies. In his speech he also highlighted many issues related to the DR executives. GS Shri Ravi Shil Verma also informed the house about the positive approach of CMD towards bringing in CPSE structure in BSNL. Also GS mentioned that there are some negative elements at the helm of affairs who are not in favour of securing the basic rights of BSNL recruited executives, which are needed to be overcome at right time by the call of association. At the end of his speech he requested the Assam Circle management & senior officers to look into the unsolved issues related to executives for motivating the young officers.
Shri Nathuram Singh, Sr. General Manager (S & M) in his addressing put forth several examples & guidelines for the young officers in improving of quality of services. He also discussed the need of increasing of sales points in urban areas to increase foothold in the competitive market. He also appealed to the young officers to remain updated on BSNL product and services, so that they can satisfy all queries of customers they come in touch with and thus building of the customer’s confidence, towards the services of BSNL.
Com. Jitu Raj Doley, President, AIGETOA Assam Circle expressed vote of thanks to one and all for making the “Open Session” a Grand Success. The Open session concluded with the national anthem.
After the Open Session, the house re-assembled again at 3:30 PM for the second session in which the interaction of members with the General Secretary & conduction of General body election of AIGETOA Assam Chapter were the main events. General Secretary addressed the house during the session about the latest happenings regarding the burning issues at corporate office & responded to several queries from the members in the “Ask Your GS” event. General Secretary Shri Ravi Shil Verma also hinted about some future course of organizational action which will be channelized later on for resolving all the pending issues.
The election of new governing body for AIGETOA Assam chapter was carried out under the supervision of Shri D K Sahoo, Asst. General Secretary-CHQ.
