The sudden push and attention to the issue of BSNL Revival - AIGETOA Team raises the issue at highest level
Ever since the new Government at centre took oath, AIGETOA Team has been working to highlight the plights, BSNL is facing in view of the sudden liquidity crunch and the immediate need to revive the ailing PSU before it gets too late. In this respect, we met various dignitaries at various levels and were working silently in our endeavor to ensure the survival of our beloved company BSNL. We have made several representations to Hon'ble communication minister, various MPs, authorities, including Hon'ble Secretary (Telecom) and other high level officers in the government.
In this series of meeting and reaching out to Government for support, AIGETOA represented to the apex of Central Government, our beloved and Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji. We didn't hesitated to put facts on record and requested our Hon'ble PM for kind intervention and suggested measures like budgetary support, allotment of 4G, introduction of VRS, reduction of retirement age to 58 Yrs till revival of BSNL, land monetization, advisory to the Govt departments for use of BSNL services, payment of pension contribution on actual basic of absorbed employees, performance audit of all the projects valued more than 100 crores, Performance oriented HR Policy in BSNL where carrot comes with performance and stick comes with non-performance and fixation of accountability at all level, settlement of outstanding HR issues of executives in general and BSNL recruited executives in particular who have longest shell life and needs smooth career progression etc. We requested Hon'ble Prime Minister for enforcing accountability for non performance even if it happens at the highest level. Our letter was a candid representation of the problems which BSNL is facing today and the need for keeping this company in a rugged and robust state.
The letter written to PMO has attracted wide spread attention of electronic and print media as it has spoken about the facts and measures needed for BSNL revival, a national asset and once a largest Telecom Operator. After the issue of BSNL survival reached to the highest authorities in the Government and matter found a wide coverage in all mainstream print & electronic media, the BSNL and its revival is now getting much awaited due attention from many of Hon'ble MPs irrespective of their political affiliations and issue was raised by many leaders from government as well as that of opposition in yesterday's question hour. The issue was also raised by Hon'ble MP Shri Jagdambika Pal Ji during discussion on matters of urgent public importance in Loksabha. Shri Jagdambika Pal ji has always supported the cause of BSNL and that of BSNL recruits raised by AIGETOA from time to time. During this discussion, Shri Pal acknowledged that the association has extended support on the issue of BSNL revival like VRS, rollback of retirement age to 58 etc. We are extremely thankful to Hon'ble MP Shri Jagdambika Pal Ji as well as all other esteemed leaders who raised the issue of BSNL revival in the highest decision making body & temple of democracy i.e. our Parliament.
We are extremely grateful to our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Hon'ble Minister of Communications Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad Ji for their concern of the issue and their desire to turn around the fortune of only national telecom operators BSNL & MTNL. We firmly believe that BSNL is a strategically important asset of the nation and the Union Government will definitely take concrete measures to revive BSNL to become a No.1 Telecom Company once again.
All print and electronic media has given the issue proper space and have acknowledged the efforts of All India Graduate Engineers & Telecom Officers Association (AIGETOA) to highlight the issue effectively. Click here for various reports.
Business Today Magazine has also reported that after the issue was raised by AIGETOA to the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, the government convened a meeting on Tuesday to chalk out a revival plan for the state owned firm BSNL.
However, there are certain sections of media who have been portraying bad image of BSNL and raising the concern that BSNL may be closed anytime now. We need to counter all such negative and vested campaigning effectively and confront any such negative news with all vigor and energy. We should have a firm belief that nobody and nobody can close BSNL till the employees remain united and open to the changes to revive our beloved PSUs.
BSNL is there to stay
Long Live BSNL
Long Live AIGETOA.
